— Reorganisation —

The organ of the catholic church St. Andreas knows a lot to report. It is the venue of the annual and internationally acclaimed Organ Festival Weeks and the associated organ competitions. Besides these beautiful experiences the organ also has to struggle with problems. The multiple conversions and extensions led to a mix-up of technology and sound style. Due to the technical confusion, the instrument became unreliable and often came up with unpleasant surprises.

So it was decided to have a fundamental reorganization carried out in the church congregation. By moving the front of the prospectus forward, the important space has been gained in order to be able to reach the organpipes better for maintenance and tuning, which was previously hardly accessible. This extra space was also used to supplement the additional stops that have been vacant for many years. A new four-manual console and a renewal of the entire electrical control system generate an almost new instrument with the now expanded possibilities since 2020. In terms of sound, a fundamental re-voicing took place.

This was done

– Disassembly, cleaning out
– normal wear repairs
– Renewal of all SIider action solenoids
– Revision of the cabling with regard to the current fire protection regulations
– Moving the front of the housing by 66cm
– Manufacture and installation of various single-tone windchests
– New four-manual console incl. a new key control and setter system
– Expansion the stop list to 78 stops (previously 49)
(“constructed” from 64 sounding stops and 14 transmissions)
– voicing
