— new organ buildung —
The town of Jessheim is located in the immediate vicinity of the airport Gardemoen (Oslo / Norway) in the center of the municipality Ullensaker in the province Akershu. As a result of the rapid growth of this district, a new Protestant church was built.
The very beautiful, with various art objects designed church has no separate organ or choral stage. The resulting ground-level installation led to a very important requirement when designing the organ case and pipe front: Reduction of the floor space to the bare essentials.
The pipe front designed by us takes the form of the roof as an essential design feature of the church, but still forms a separate art object in the room. Due to the constriction of the lower part of the case, the organ player remains in line with the choir to the left which permits for the symmetry of the chair installation to remain intact.
The concept is based on an organ with two well-filled manual divisions in a classical romantic style. The specification allows a variety of stop combination options and a very large dynamic range from pianissimo to forte. Both the key and stop action work purely mechanically. However, the stop action and the console are prepared for retrofitting magnets to operate the sliders electrically as well as utilising a computer aided stop control system.
