— Reorganisation —
The organ work of the Fa. Peter from Cologne was getting old. The entire organ electrical system no longer complied with the fire safety regulations and had to be fundamentally renovated.
As a result of the various additions and extensions since the construction of the organ and the resulting disharmony of the organ technique, a new overall concept was developed by the organist and composer Mr. Dominik Susteck and the organ expert Mr. Ansgar Wallenhorst.
The new tractor control system should be as flexible and innovative as possible. So the decision was made for the control system “System SINUA. ” This system offers the organist even more possibilities to design the sound than was previously possible with this organ. In addition to the fundamental renewal of the organ control, the mechanical console of the choir organ was abandoned in favour of a new additional general console.
The new general console is freely movable, on the ground level at the level of the choir organ. The visual concept of the new console reflects the minimalism prevailing in the church room.
At the same time, the existing console, which dates back to Peter Bares, was extensively restored. So this unique piece is playable in the usual way. In addition, a large touch-display also makes the new functions of the “System SINUA” available on the Bares-console.
We were very pleased to have been entrusted with this work. We realised this exciting project with the two companies FSB Orgelbau and SINUA GmbH. It was a very harmonious and constructive collaboration.
On the progress of the work:
In a first step, additional and larger runways for the choir organs were manufactured and assembled, so that in future the organist will also be able to perform the reeds tuning or simpler maintenance work himself.
At the same time, the production of the new general console began. Following the expansion of the mechanics for the tontracture and the mechanical console of the choir organ, the organ electrical system in the choir organ was refurbished to comply with fire and personal safety regulations, the new tractor control was installed and finally put into operation together with the new general console.
Since it was now possible to accompany the service with the choir organ, work on the main organ could begin. Parallel to the dismantling of the Bares-console, parts of the pipes were removed from the main organ in order to be able to renovate the organ electrical system of the main organ.
After the successful refurbishment of the organ’s electrical system and the installation of the new tractor control system in the main organ, the restored and expanded Bares-console was put into operation again.
At the end the pipes were reinstalled and a partial tuning was performed.
