— new organ —

The church in Østerås was built in 1974 and is used not only for church services. Already in the planning of the church, various room sizes and holistic usage concepts were simulated by partition walls. The former organ has concealed a significant part of the large window area, which is so important for natural light. This gave rise to a very special task for the design of the new organ.

The new prospectus design we have designed incorporates the circle as an essential design element of the church, but nevertheless forms a separate art object in the room. An adjacent storage room could be used for the swell, so that the required floor space in the church room was significantly reduced and the light incidence could be increased accordingly by the window area that had been freed up. The console stands free in front of the organ with the organist’s direction of view to the altar.

The sonic concept of the organ is oriented towards the classic romantic style. The stoplist is suitable for both concert use as well as for the accompaniment of choir, soloists or orchestra. The stoplist allows a variety of combinations and a very high sound dynamics from pianissimo to strong. The key action is purely mechanical, while the stop action is electric with the support of a stop control system.
